Interesting thriller filled with family secrets
After a drunk driving accident, Sunday wakes up in a LA hospital to her brother whom she hasn’t spoken to in months. Five years ago, Sunday left her family and high school sweetheart in New York with little to no explanation. Now, she has decided to go home and attempt rebuild her life on the east coast. In we are the Brennans, we get to know the Brennans family, their secrets, and their mistakes.
As one of my last reads of the year, I was looking for a quick read with a little suspense and We are the Brennans delivered exactly that. Told in the perspective of different members of the Brennans family, the reader was aware of many of the secrets and drama before they were revealed to the rest of the family. The events leading up to Sunday’s sudden departure five years ago was surprising enough but the miscommunication trope definitely had a hand here. Though the plot rarely lulled, I wouldn’t say it was on-the-edge-of-your-seat/engrossing type of read.
