This is a family drama following an Irish Catholic family who are each hiding something. As they work to open a second bar, their secrets start to unravel and threaten the relationships around them.

I loved this story and how authentic the family relationships felt. At the start it was difficult to keep all of the names straight, but I quickly got used to them as the chapters altered viewpoints between each character. I loved how Lange transitioned each chapter -- it ends with a conversation that is then picked up by another character's POV.

Each character was flawed and facing their own battles or bad decisions, but you couldn't help but root for them both individually and as a family. They didn't constantly fight or argue over these problems, but instead tried to find a way to get through it.

I really enjoyed following this family's journey as they navigate loss, shame, financial hardship, and love. Highly recommend picking this up when it publishes August 3. Thank you Celadon Books for my advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
