“Family didn’t mean hiding the hard stuff from each other, it meant facing it together. And it meant forgiving each other.”

I love stories that have flawed family relationships and individual/whole family character development, and this book had both! I feel like this book had the perfect amount of tension, secrecy, and dysfunction. While I guessed all of the major twists and turns pretty early on, I enjoyed the journey as each character’s secrets were revealed.

I also enjoyed the multiple perspectives - each character’s “voice” was different from the others, and I especially loved the way the author transitioned from one character to the next each chapter.

Overall, the book felt a bit like a less glitzy equivalent to Malibu Rising. It’s got lots of drama, some characters you love and others you detest, and the lots of family secrets.
