Congratulations to Tracey Lange on having her first book published!

I was so excited to read this book. I love a high school romance comeback, and a story with secrets. The summary of this book had everything. The book itself, not so much. I can absolutely tell that Lange is a talented writer. However, this book wasn’t for me.

Jackie was the only main character I actually liked. The other main characters lack morals to say the least. The lovely high school romance comeback, in which I was so looking forward to, only occurred through adultery. The “family secrets” weren’t really secrets but rather a cluster of bad decision making by the main characters that everyone outside of the family seemed to already know.

Spoiler Alert:

This recoupling of Sunday and Kale also leads to a broken family. Vivienne was far from my favorite character. (Anyone else get Janice from Friends vibes?) Still, it was tough not to feel bad for her and Luke.

I feel as though Lange tried to throw a mystery in at the last moment, but it fell short. Very short. I don’t suspect there was a single person reading this book that didn’t instantly know who killed Billy. Although the end of the book reveals the killer, many unanswered questions remain. Lange definitely doesn’t wrap the book up with a tidy bow.

I am certain that there are many folks that will love this book. I have no doubt that Lange will gather fans. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.
