A decent multiple POV story

The story of the Brennan’s reminded me a lot of We Were the Mulvaneys, but with an East Coast Irish family vibe. The daughter of the family, Sunday, has been in California for 5 years, following some un-disclosed trauma in New York where she grew up. She abandoned her three siblings, her parents, and her childhood love of her life. Following an uncharacteristic DUI charge after an accident, her brother recruits her to come home to help take care of the family’s crumbling finances and try to heal the emotional wounds from her departure.

I always love a multiple POV story. The chapters connect smoothly, with too much redundancy, but also without neglecting each character’s take on the actions of the previous chapter. I thought a bit of the language and characterization was predictable (Irish drunks, involvement with the NRA…..), but overall I thought the story was strong and had good pacing.
