Often in current media, when a story changes perspective, the author has a hard time keeping the different voices of their characters unique. Lange does not have this problem. Immediately she establishes Sunday as a mildly unreliable and questionable narrator, following it up with a look into Denny's stable yet unstable life. Through the two of them, Lange paints a picture of Jackie before the reader ever meets him.
