Not interested in garnering sympathy for a drunk driver

Honestly, with an opening scene depicting a drunk driver who we are supposed to sympathize with, I was done with this novel. I'm not interested in this book at all and I think it has the potential to do more harm than good. I won't comment otherwise. I can imagine how this book will be one that is popular with white women and plays on their heartstrings somehow. Big yikes on this one.
