Based in a small town in England the story weaves back and forth in time. It opens with a murder, a detective and a red tassel. However, In the first impression I read (21 pages long) this was not referenced again. I often found myself confused as to whom was being referred when several different characters were present, but referenced as, "she". Which 'she' are we referring to? I found it often took me out of the story while I tried to figure it out; often having to re-read it several times in order to get the gist. Perhaps this is intentional in keeping the reader guessing. I found the characters to be lacking in depth and found myself scanning to get through the prose to the information. Again, this review is based a short 21 page 'first look' and not the entire book.
