This was my first Lisa Jewell but it certainly won’t be the last.

Each of the finely drawn characters will draw your suspicion but in a very eerie way - because we don’t know the identity of the victim or any details of the crime really until almost the very end. Much like the characters, you never really trust anyone.

There were plenty of twists that kept me guessing but they never felt like cheap cop-outs. They were perfectly authentic to the story. We all observe and to a certain degree, speculate about our neighbors. Watching You takes this to the Nth degree.

This would make a dynamite limited television series.

For fans of the suburban melodrama of Big Little Lies and those who wanted perhaps a bit more “action” from The Casual Vacancy.
