I read a few other books by this author and was in love with her writing style. Then she was gone was amazing so I thought this would be equally as good. Nope I was wrong. This one fell very short. The characters I didn't connect to, they all felt very two-dimensional. I felt that the teacher had grooming/pedophilia tendencies and I figured out the killer one they were introduced into the story.
The mother with some psychosis and paranoia was a little weird and I thought it was irresponsible of the school and the neighbors to leave a teen in that situation. The story had great potential I just really wanted more. This book just didn't live up to the hype of the first book, and maybe that's the problem I was putting too many expectations on the author to deliver a phenomenal book like she did the first time. As I look at this book and its own right it was okay nothing great if this is the first book you come across by Lisa Jewell put it back and pick up then she was gone first.
