Maybe I've just been reading too many books of this genre lately, but this one didn't do much for me. It was a quick read and I didn't ever get the urge to give up on it, but it didn't thrill me. I felt nothing for the characters, except Freddie, who was the only one I felt had any depth or interesting characteristics. Books that take place in England are a frequent thing for me, but this was a rare case where the language and atmosphere were distracting. The second half became very predictable and the outcome became very obvious, I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. The character of Tom was confusing in that he was viewed as a certain way by several characters that kind of just got thrown away later in the book with no explanation. If thrillers or mysteries are your primary genre, then you may like this, but otherwise it's worth passing on. *Thanks to the publisher for the free advance copy for review.*
