The first look I got of this book has all the intrigue of a classic thriller. It is partly told in transcripts of detective interviews and I assume that we will be learning the story between these interviews and the narration of the protagonist, Joey. I think that the story is set up nicely; we start with a prologue of a detective examining the murder scene and then go into the narration. The murder and the violence is not thrown in our face right off the bat so we have time to get to know the characters and start to understand the context of the story. I definitely wanted to read more once I got to the end of the third chapter and see how the relationship between Joey and Tom develops. From what I interpreted of their first interaction, I was a little iffy about the immediate attraction/weirdness between them, considering they haven't even officially met. I wish that element had been slowed down a bit and that we actually got to see these characters interact rather than just jumping straight to an animal attraction.

This is definitely a book I hope to continue in the future!
