There's a terrible dread suffusing the first pages of Watching You, which shouldn't surprise me. Lisa Jewell is one of a class of rarefied author's that seamlessly bounces timelines, weaving a narrative that reveals just enough until the reader reaches a climax of thrilling horror that was always just around the corner. This book is already promising to live up to what I've read of hers in the past. The main character, Joey, seems to be drifting aimlessly, but is already involved in a police interview, an obsessive physical attraction with the man next door, and has only been married for weeks. Its deliciously thrilling and I can't wait to read more.
