I devoured Watch Over Me by Nina Lacour in a matter of a few hours time. It’s a small quick read that packs a serious emotional punch.
Mila is a tortured soul that has aged out of foster care. She takes a job at farm to teach kids that have lived lives similar to hers. How the farm, people (and ghosts) change her - is her story. It’s lyrical really in so many ways. It’s heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. It’s spooky yet deep and emotional also. It’s a story of redemption and coming to terms with the hand you’ve been dealt and learning to live with it. Learning how to live.
