Mila, who is aging out of foster care, jumps at the opportunity to hold a teaching position on a secluded farm. The couple who runs the farm has multiple foster children (hence the teaching position) and the story follows Mila's assimilation of the group.

WATCH OVER ME is a book about loneliness, trauma, and the desire to be loved. The setting of the book is quiet and moody, and I found this was the perfect book to read on a rainy day. The characters were interesting--especially Mila. The story is filled with flashbacks which I found to be heartbreaking but insightful.

Overall I enjoyed reading this book. It was a shorter book, but left an impression on me. My one complaint is that I felt the second half was rushed. I am definitely looking forward to reading more of LaCour's work in the future!
