Y’all, this book starts off SO ominous that you can’t help but stay up to see what is bound to happen. I read the first few pages and stopped so I could jump in bed and snuggle up to read it because I knew it was about to get good fast.

When I was done, I actually looked around and looked at the time. Lacour’s writing is so poetic and just flows off the page. I felt like time had stopped while I was reading and it was just me and the book. There were a lot of descriptions, but I honestly felt that if it they were not there, I would have been robbed of such intoxicating storytelling (try saying that three times fast)

I thought ghosts roaming freely alongside the living was such a wonderful concept. They would dance and frolic in the grass with no need to hide or look scary. I, at first, thought Mila was seeing things. I just really appreciated it being something that was a norm. I also appreciated how Lacour’s dealt with the trauma in each person’s life. The way it was navigated to show their healing was beautiful.

This book is for those who like a non-bump in the night ghost story, those who appreciate beautiful writing, and those who don’t mind an emotional journey to healing and perseverance.

Happy Pub Day to this beautiful book. Thank you Bookish First & Dutton for the gifted copy.
