This is a beautiful book about overcoming fears and grief. It covers loss and abandonment. It shows love. This is a story of a young girl who was treated horribly by her mother’s boyfriend. She ends up in the foster system and eventually moves to a farm for foster children where she teaches a young boy. This boy is dealing with many difficult things, and she gives him advice to deal with it. They form a close bond and, she develops a love for teaching. The farm has many ghosts. Most are friendly and interactive with those who live on the farm. The ghosts are interesting and are a major part of the story towards the end but this is not a book about the paranormal and only mentions the ghosts for most of the book. They are not a major part of it.
