The writing style is an intimate and lightly poetic first person perspective. Very approachable but also more sophisticated than the average contemporary YA writing. Right from the beginning, there appears to be a lot going on behind the scenes and a psychologically interesting main character. Stories about ghosts always get me and I'm getting magical realism vibes so far. The cover is also lovely. I've not yet read LaCour's earlier blockbuster called We Are Okay, but can confirm that Watch Over Me appears to be spinning a whole new tale that doesn't require knowledge of the author's past works.
