Engaging Atmospheric Setting With Relatable Characters
This book instantly drew me in with its unique writing style and creepy atmosphere. We follow Mila, a girl who seems to have gone through too much trauma at such a young age, as she leaves her foster home in hopes to find purpose at an isolated farm where she will teach a young boy, Lee. Everything about the story felt wholesome yet creepy at the same time, as if every piece of the farm was just slightly off-center (nevermind the fact that there is the blatant acknowledgement that ghosts roam the farm at night). I also found the writing style intriguing and loved the interjection of short blasts from the past that had an equally haunting tone. I was so drawn into the story, and I can't wait to see not only how Mila grows personally, but also what will happen at this creepy isolated farm!
