Not many books make me cry, but Nina Lacour's 'We are Okay' did so almost effortlessly. Her ability to manipulate my emotions makes me excited to be wrecked once again by this new book. 'Watch Over Me' appeals to me primarily because of my past experience of Lacour's writing, but this book's attention to living with ghosts, emotional or otherwise, is very intriguing. In the midst of a pandemic, reading a story of trauma and survival seems especially relevant. Lacour's attention to powerful emotion will bring those topics to a whole new level.

I love this cover as well! It is incredibly evokative, and makes me think this character could be turned upside-down by her life. It also conveys a sense of whimsy and innocence, and I'm curious to see how that vibe may or may not mesh with who this character is.
