This one felt... Too long. Very scattered. I think I would have enjoyed it more had a read the book rather than listening to the audio. I had a hard time differentiating between the sisters-as-narrators and even just a different narrator would have made it easier. As it was, I feel like we skipped over the main part of the story by jumping 4 years in the future and every character that wasn't one of the sisters is more of the suggestion of a person than an actual believable, dimensional character.

I will say, I loved the trauma that festered in the minds of the two main characters as a result of the war and the politics and the child soldiers and the views of the enemy, etc etc. It gave a rich depth to an otherwise scattered book. I still plan on reading book two because there's so much depth to the world we're in and I know that Tochi Onyebuchi can tell a good story.
