Let me start off by saying that while I dnf this book, I very muched enjoyed the hell out of it. I loved the premise of mecha girls (I grew up obsessed with Gundam ) I loved the sisterly love and strength behind these fighting women. I just didn't find myself finishing it. I'll probably try again later on the road, but my adhd just won't let me. Tochi is an INCREDIBLE author though. I loved War baby so much you don't understand. I love this man's writing. I love that black girls can be main characters in fantasy and not get stuck as the best friend/ caretaker/ character that dies for the plot to get better (eyeing you Sarah J MESS)
This one was the first fantasy that I could read and put myself (a mixed latinx and black female) as the main character without whitewashing my own self.
Honestly I've convinced myself to go read this book again and give it its much needed second chance!
