I had wanted to read War Girls for a long time. When I first heard about it back in May I thought the premise sounded incredible. When it came up as an excerpt to read on Bookish First I was so excited, and I loved the first few chapters.

Overall I enjoyed the whole book. I loved the fact that it switches points of view between Onyii and Ify. I thought their characters were very well developed and it was easy to love them. The war building was excellent, and the fact that it is somewhat based on true events was extremely intriguing.

However, as you can see, this is only a three-star book for me. Now three stars aren't bad, it just means I had some issues. Mainly, I thought the story was very confusing and hard to follow. I found myself constantly trying to figure out what was going on because it wasn't making sense. The pacing was also weird, and most of the time things seemed rushed. The ending also wasn't my favorite, but that's just me.

If you are looking for a cool, action-packed, post-apocalyptic, inspired by true events story I would recommend you give War Girls a chance. Even though it does have some faults, overall it kept me entertained, and that is what's most important.
