Right from the start, War Girls by Tochi Onyebuchi is unique and interesting. The writing is vivid and colorful which really allows the characters and the scenery come to life.
However, there was one sentence in the beginning of the book that threw me: “She waits until she’s outside the tent to let out her gas.” After reading this line I had to check... yup... written by a guy.... ha ha ha!
Overall, this seems like a good read with a very different plot. The cover is attractive and I like it even though I’m not typically a fan of realistic people on the front (I tend to like well done typography the most). But in the case of this book, I think the cover design is appropriate.
