I care about the sisters Onjii and Ify and wonder what is happening after the wounded woman is brought inside the protected area. This first impression stopped at a point where perhaps the action was going to pick up and the story would be more exciting. I know groundwork has to be laid in every book, and sometimes it may take even the first fifty pages to get the reader involved. This book had quite a bit of narration describing what was taking place when I would have preferred more conversation to move the story along, however. Just my feelings. Others may think the balance of conversation and narration was fine.
