I've seen this book being advertised a lot, and I wasn't sure if it would be for me. I'm more of a fantasy reader than I am a science fiction reader, and I was hesitant to read the first look because I didn't know if it would appeal to me. I've learned that I need to step out of my comfort zone because this book looks like it will be a new favorite of mine. The world that Onyebuchi builds seems real and extremely palpable, but as someone who doesn't know much about Nigerian culture and customs, I do hope that he gives a little bit more information later on in the book because I was struggling to figure out things from context clues. However, that is my only critique, I love the characters he is building already. Ify seems like a character I'd aspire to be, while Onyii's more pragmatic views of life land her squarely into a kind of person I really am.

All in all, I can't wait to read this book.
