The cover of War Girls is eye-catching. The story is imagination-catching. Onyii and Ify live in a camp of girls, a rebel camp unsanctioned by the authorities. They hide, they scavenge for the things they need, they do what must be done to survive. At fifteen, Onyii is one of the oldest in the camp. Imagine it - a group of teen and pre-teen girls, on their own in the wilderness, staying out of sight, surviving. Could I have done that as a teenage girl? I don't know. I do know that I want to know more about Onyii and Ify. Do they survive? Do they thrive? Will the Biafra that Onyii dreams about ever become a reality? The excerpt offered ended on a cliffhanger, and now I have GOT to know what happens next.
