The very first sentence about the main character Onyii taking off her arm first thing every morning grabbed my interest immediately. This book is an African inspired fantasy, taking place in a war torn Nigeria. The people fighting the war are people with powerful bionic limbs, but the first pages is all about the human cost of that, the human side of basically being an android. I can't wait to read more about how violence shapes the sisters Onyii and Ify and how they're able to possibly navigate beyond that.
