In this post-apocalyptic Black-Panther inspired Nigeria, the world is literally in the crapper. Looming threats we face today, such as climate change, have taken their toll on the planet and war has done the rest. I appreciated the note at the beginning of the book sharing the author’s particular connection to the world he created, and I think it was instrumental in my understanding of War Girls as more than just fiction or entertainment. The best literature speaks of the human condition, and I think even as machine-melded and not human as some of these characters are, this book shines with a blazing triumphant of humanity. Also, the cover rocks!
