I enjoyed the unique perspective of this book. The story opens on a scene with a man and a woman in a house. The man is investigating the disappearance of the President. We soon find out that the man and woman are both characters in the stories of depressed romance writer Wanda Wiley. The woman has been trapped in the house for a long time after being written out of Wanda's earlier series. The woman feels trapped in the house and wants to be free.
