Nothing personal but it’s probably not for me

I thought I’d check out the excerpt even though the storyline doesn’t sound like one I would normally appreciate. It sounds a like the women in the story experienced something traumatic as children, that tends to be a storyline that doesn’t work for me. Anyway, I started the excerpt and the main character is researching beetles. I literally just finished a book about a women researching beetles recently. What are the odds of that?
