Waiting for the Night Song has promise, but it's a bit over-the-top in atmosphere, and the protagonist comes off as selfish and reckless when it suits her own ends, which I'm not quite sure is what the author is really intending. The first inclination for many would be to make THE comparison, but this storytelling doesn't have the subtlety that Crawford's does - which is what helps makes a story truly magical.
