The first thing that jumped out at me while reading the first couple pages was the setting of the book. It takes place in New Hampshire which I really liked sometimes when you are reading books the focus is not so much where the story takes place but removes more around the plot but I think from reading the first sneak peak that the setting plays a big part in the story which is a refreshing change! This story also reminded me of a book and movie I love which is divine secrets of the ya-ya sisterhood and also a bit of the movie practical magic. I think Cadie is running from her past and her friends because something big happened to them but instead of confronting it she instead decides to forget anything that happened back then. We get a feel for the landscape when Cadie is trying hard to catch a beetle maybe that gives a hint as to what she does for a living? Oh she is a forestry researcher.When she gets an unexpected text from a person she has tried to forget her old friend Daniela he’s dead is all she says.... I can’t wait to to read about the mystery that will unfold. Also can we talk about the dog Friar Friar Huck who is named after Robin Hood. That alone is enough to want to read this!
