I was instantly drawn into this novel by the gorgeous writing, the murder mystery surfacing from the past, and the contemporary issue of climate change. Julie Dalton is a talented writer with lyrical prose that made me savor every word. Her descriptions of the NH woods through the eyes of the young protagonist were so resonant, they transported me to the muddy riverbank alongside her. I can't wait to read more of this beautiful novel and discover more about the main character's modern-day field work and the secret that haunts her from the past.
