Rich with atmosphere and ripe with tension, I was immediately pulled into this story. Cadie is vivid and full of life, a rebel in the present, we see the beginning of her defiant tendencies when we slip into her memories of the past. And while the story seems poised to switch back and forth, the slow reveal promises to show us only enough while the slow-build to more information adds more tension with every page. A gorgeous opening.
