My first thought as I began reading was “how timely”. Invasive beetles, encroaching forest fires, politics keeping the truth of our changing world from being told... this is the perfect book for this moment. Add in some lush descriptions and exciting callbacks to a childhood friend and a secret and you’ve got me totally hooked. Plus the cover of this book is gorgeous. Can’t wait to pick this one up and keep reading!
