It’s hard to put down what I feel about this book. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. It’s the tale of one Virgil Wander who survives a car crash, but has some memory loss. As he begins his recovery, we meet his friends and the townspeople. This small mid-western town is a dying town, and Virgil runs a movie house, I felt just for the kicks, not because he could make any money. It is a slow read, very descriptive and sometimes it seems it isn’t going anywhere. I couldn’t get into the characters and was hoping more would happen. It’s a slice of life story in a small dying town with people trying to live their lives. I thought the writing was very good but still something was missing for me.
