This book took me a bit to get into but once I once I was able to fall into its rhythm I was entranced.

Virgil Wander survives a nearly fatal accident with a concussion and the realization that he is no longer the man he thinks he used to be. As he navigates the need to get to know himself again, he also sees his town and its inhabitants through eyes. This beautifully written book is more character study of the inhabitants of a down on its luck town than a plot driven novel but with a cast of characters so fabulous that I was sad to leave them behind.

I am not someone who highlights lines within books but Enger's writing really made me wish that I was. I was frequently struck by the beauty of his words
