I really enjoy the lyrical quality of Enger’s writing and this one did not disappoint. This is a gentle story and one the reader needs to take their time reading and savoring. This is the story of Virgil Wander and his life after he suffers a traumatic brain injury. It takes place in the upper Midwest in Minnesota, and is filled with a cast of quirky characters who come together to help each other. This story will stay with you long after you have finished reading it. 3.5 stars
