The cover is beautiful and caught my attention. That led me to read the synopsis which also sounded quite intriguing. However, the sample chapter didn't make me want to continue reading. There were a couple of places, even in the same paragraph, where the author has the main character, Virgil, refer to his best friend, Tom Beeman, as Tom one time and Beeman another. This could cause confusion because the reader has to figure out if the character is talking about two different people, which interrupts the flow of the story. I also didn't enjoy the writing my attention.
