This book is a type of book I like! Life in a small town and all of the many characters who live there. This particular town is slowly but surely dying, and there are hardly any people going through it on their way to somewhere else. In this town, one night Virgil Wander who has lived there for 25 years, encounters a life changing event. Virgil lives alone above the movie theater, a nice middle age gentleman who is a photojournalist, goes up the hill at a turnout where many people go. He is watching a storm coming in to take pictures of it, when it is all of a sudden right there. He gets in the car to get out of the wind and rain when he drives through the barrier on the cliff and his car sinks to the bottom of Lake Superior.
What follows is a book filled with many characters, who live in this town who they are, and as he looks back, he thinks the trouble that came to town was the day he got out of the hospital and a stranger appears! I can't wait to read this!
