I’ve loved Enger’s earlier work, and this new work sounds extraordinary. The prodigal son motif sounds wonderful. And having a friend with early onset Alzheimer’s, I’ll be able to identify with the protagonist’s loss of memory a great deal. Enger is also a wonderful stylist, so I will enjoy reading for the sheer pleasure of the words. I can’t wait to read a novel by an author who has not produced one in some time.
