This is exactly the type of book I enjoy (a story that is layered and gives even secondary characters a backstory) and - as a bonus - it's written so beautifully and lyrically! Leif Enger is a master storyteller, and I am not only already engrossed in Virgil's story but the stories of Rune and the others who make up Virgil's community.
