Self-help books are hit-or-miss for me. Understandably books in this genre resonate with some people and not at all for others - this one won't be any different. I appreciate that this book flips the script on other parenting books (I think? it's not my genre...) by focusing on the parent and how they can grow and become empowered to be their best parenting self without judgment about actual parenting decisions. The book is very readable and also interactive to encourage the reader/parent to reflect on their own values and experiences. This might work for some in book-form, but it might be a bit awkward and cumbersome for others.

In many ways, this seems less about parenting (from the short first impression) than about building confidence as a parent and even in these first few pages, Davis clearly cheers on the reader. I think the foreword by Dr. Becky Kennedy was extraneous and didn't really add much content; in fact, most of the 3.5 pages were about Becky Kennedy's parenting program. I imagine this book can be helpful to some - especially those with the time to read books about parenting.
