I was excited for this book because there is not enough autism representation in books, especially not females. At first glance, the cover is beautiful. Whoever did the artwork is wonderful. The writing style is also lovely. It is lush, descriptive prose that sucks you in and transports you to their world. I loved the descriptions of the fae and the traditional folklore elements. Some books about fae tend to make them too human-like for my tastes, so I like when authors go the more fantasy route.

The one thing that made me not love this book is Seelie's personality and the way the author chose to portray autism. Instead of coming off as a neurodivergent person with challenges, she comes across as a mean, judgmental, narcissistic, selfish person. I just could not connect with her and found myself very disappointed in the way that she was written.
