The reason I did not like the book, is most likely the reason a lot of people will flock to this book and that is solely because of the fae. This is the 5th book I have read that follows a fae storyline, and I have really started to realize that this is not the type of fantasy I enjoy reading.
However, this book did do a lot of things well. For one, having an autistic main character is HUGE! I really loved reading from this perspective and it's a voice that we need more of in stories. I also thought the opening scene when they are at the festival is incredibly eye catching. I loved the imagery the author used, and can tell that they took the time to craft a beautiful world.
One thing I did struggle with was the compass plotline. I had a hard time staying engaged and being interested in the two groups merging together to use the compass embedded in the main characters arm.
