This book was so close to being perfect! And I'll just start off by saying that I'm a stickler about my book endings. How a book ends really cinches how I view my enjoyment overall. And this one, I have to say this one let me down. Mostly because it was a freaking CLIFF HANGER! I really wasn't expecting that. I wanted my plot points wrapped up by the end (and with some tighter editing I feel like that would have been possible in this book). This is why sadly I cannot give it five stars.
I really loved the relationship between Seelie and Sol, it felt like a true sibling relationship. It was loving and caring, but there were also moments of frustration/fighting. I loved the world that Housman created. It was vibrant, the magic left enough to the imagination to be mysterious. I enjoyed the intrigue of the plot trying to figure out what the compass led to and weather they all could make it.
One other thing that I did get a bit tired of was basically everyone telling Seelie to "grow up" basically and her having a meltdown over how hard that would be for her. I do get it, the author wanted there to be some tension, but the cycle of this went on for just a bit too long in the later half of the book.
Overall, I was so pulled into this book I read it all in one day. However, the cliffhanger made me want to throw the book across the room and contemplate my hours wasted. So close to perfect, just wish it had been self contained.
