First Impressions

The cover has a manga look and the two sisters, though appearing the same, look different as night and day. One has short hair and is in black (no color) while the other sister has a necklace, belt, appears very colorful, with many more accessories than her sister, the tale is set, already with the cover, to give a very different impression of the pair. Two together yet set apart by all appearances.

Seelie (Iselia) the changeling of the twin pair not only has to deal with this difference but that she has unpredictable magic and, on top of that, dealing with autism. A reader can only imagine, with the reality of autism and dealing with that issue, how hard that can be. Piling all the rest must make life overwhelming for the girl (and make for a very emotive, insightful read). The mixture of these characteristics, the otherworldly ones with the realistic ones excite me as I would like to know how Seelie deals with them all but, most of all, I'd like to see how her twin sister, if her twin sister, supports her in all her issues.

And, while it says that Seelie must harness her magic to protect her sister, Isolde and what part she plays, the way she feels to with her sister, in all probability, with all she deals with, all she has, how she appears in the novel to, there is my interest as a reader, also. As autism takes center stage here, in this book, with the main character, those effects on a twin, as in the book I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb, hopefully play out in the story as people who live with autism can hopefully learn from this book, too.

Overall though, that those with autism have a heroine in this book is a reason for many thanks and applause to the author and a book I can't wait to read!
