Trigger Warnings: This book goes into detail about real life sexual assaults, rapes, and murders.

This is one of the most crazy and addictive memoirs I've ever read. if you are somebody who enjoys watching true crime thriller TV shows, then this is definitely the book for you. while I can't say it was exactly a fun read due to the nature of the book, I can say this book was an engaging read. This novel is about a criminalist who focused his life on solving cold cases. The most interesting thing about this book was that the author told us about a multitude of different crimes, if they were solved and how they were solved.

Specifically, the focal topic of this book was on the Golden State killer and the authors’ search for justice for the victims. It was interesting to see how even while the author was investigating other cases throughout the 20 plus years that he searched for the Golden State killer, he continued to circle back to this case. Even when he had opposition and was told in no uncertain terms that he should stop, he was compelled to continue his research and investigation.

This book centered on the story of all of these different cases that the author solved and cases that were connected, but we also got to see some of the side effects of having this as his career. We got to know a little bit about how it affected him mentally, physically, and how it affected his family life. The writing style wasn't very notable, but that can be a good thing. It didn't take attention away from the focus of the book. Overall, I thought this book was excellently executed. The way that the different cases were formatted and how one case and one topic flowed into another felt very smooth.
