I’ve been reading more true crime lately and felt that the Book of Cold Cases brings an interesting view into true crime from the perspective of a cold case investigator. I read this as an audiobook and found that format easy to follow and keep up with. It is equal parts memoir and investigative / procedural true crime - a nice mix and perspective. I enjoyed the methodical view presented here - you do see the investigative process and it’s a bit different than other true crime I’ve read. I didn’t love that several parts felt repetitive, making this a little less engaging than some other true crime I’ve read where the crime / mystery just unfolds along the way. Overall, it’s an interesting read for true crime fans, and worth exploring if you’re interested in this specific case. I’d read more from the investigator perspective in this genre based on this book as well.
